Cade Wine Tasting
Come meet Anthony Biagi, winemaker of Cade Wines from Napa Valley at Plonk! on Tuesday. We will be tasting his latest releases of Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon.

"At CADE Estate Winery we try to find the line between ageability and drinkability," says Biagi. "We're after artisanal, dimensional wines that taste like they could have come from nowhere else, wines with all the power of Howell Mountain fruit delivered in an approachable style. It's a privilege to help set this style-what I like to call Modern Howell Mountain-as CADE's founding winemaker."

Biagi is a fourth-generation Californian who comes to CADE Estate Winery from positions at Duckhorn Vineyards, Paraduxx Winery and Neal Family Vineyards. He continues to make wine for PlumpJack Winery with consulting winemaker Nils Venge.

The tasting is free from 5:00-7:00 on Tuesday, March 13th. These are some fantastic wines that you won't want to miss!

Restaurant Review: Plonk by Alison Cook
I freely confess I was reluctant to eat at a restaurant called Plonk. That's an ugly word that clomps off the tongue, conjuring up the cheap, nasty wine of one's misspent youth. Even used ironically - as is clearly the case at this year-old "wine & beer bistro" in the northern Oaks neighborhoods - Plonk sounds to me like a guaranteed bad time, possibly with a headache attached.

One Year Later: Plonk Doesn't Need No Stinking Sign
When I reviewed Plonk a year ago, I mentioned that the wine bar didn't have any signage to speak of -- not even above their endcap space in a Garden Oaks strip center. I got lost heading there for the first time, and all of my dining companions did too.

Best of Award 2011: Best Burger

And that's because Plonk is more than just a wine bar: It combines excellent food with expertly chosen wine and beer in a cozy, neighborhood setting. The guanciale burger is the best example of that food. Its buns are toasted in the pizza oven while Swiss cheese melts onto the top bun...
